Albert Kowalski is a novelist from Luna, having published a successful book, titled "Cafe at the Edge of the Galaxy", that catapulted him to fame for his quirky style and snarky observations on the state of the galaxy.
History[]
Life on Luna[]
Albert was born on Luna on May 7, 2383 to Polish immigrants, his father being Chief Technology Officer of a modestly large consumer electronics company while his mother stayed at home. Being relatively well off in the upper middle class due to his father's occupation, Albert attended good schools throughout his early years and attained modestly good scores all around, keeping him on track. He visited Earth numerous times with his mother for vacations to old cities such as Prague, Rome, Paris and more, and he became ever more fascinated with the the world that had given birth to the human race.
Life on Terra and Rise to Fame[]
After graduating from high school, Albert was accepted to Cornell University and was subsequently shipped off from his home on Luna to the dormitories on Earth. There, he continued his education but struggled to find his path. He didn't know exactly what to do with himself or his future, and he continually explored and studied things that piqued his interest only for them to quickly dilute and he would return to boredom. One thing that continued to keep his interest however was the political affairs of the galaxy as a whole, along with the problems that came with it. As he studied and read into it, he was shocked and abhorred at the rampant piracy in some areas, the corruption of local governments, the inequality, the wars, practically everything. But rather than wallow in it and complain about it on some message board like most would, he decided to take up the pen and began writing his thoughts. Thoughts became ideas that converged into chapters and characters, and eventually he wrote "Cafe at the Edge of the Galaxy". He introduced his draft to several publishers, rejected several times as well, before finding one that would take a chance on him. The book became a smash hit among readers as Albert expressed the problems of society and of the galaxy through a quirky setting and funny dialogue between his characters. Critics praised it as a "work of genuine thought" and the sales went through the roof, him to instant fame. Over the years, he would continue to write three new books to his repertoire, and while they were modestly successful they never reached the same level of fame as his first. This is when he reached a severe writer's block and was unable to even write a single sentence, it just never meshed or fit what he wanted. A few years passed without so much as a page written from him, stuck in the shadow of his original smash hit.
