The Upyri Federation Navy and Marine Corps are the military arms of the Federation, tasked with enforcing its collective will or keeping the peace inside Federation space. The headquarters of the military forces are on the Upyri capital world of Hemera.
The Federation's military originally was divided up amongst the various member worlds of the former Confederation of Upyri Worlds. Of these worlds, Ker was easily considered the most powerful of the military oriented worlds. Its military is the basis of the modern Federation military forces. Most of their structure, tactics, training, even weaponry and armor were derived from Ker's designs and improved upon.
A few of the Federation Military's leaders are veterans of the Division War, a conflict which lead to the downfall of the Confederation and birth of the Upyri Federation. Tirell Metais, the first Grand Admiral of the Federation Navy (and ultimately the leader of the military forces), proved his worth in the Division War with his tactical brilliance during the Battle of Moirai, a battle which cost Ker a decently sized chunk of its interstellar fleet.
After the Division War, it was decided that the military forces would be united as one federal force with its headquarters on Hemera. Tirell Metais was named Grand Admiral. He has since passed, and the mantle of Grand Admiral has passed on to Lenos Kretha.
In the late 2300s, the Federation ended their isolationist policies regarding politics in the galaxy. The military soon got their first taste of true war with a foreign entity shortly afterwards, engaging the Divinity Creed alongside the forces of Sol. They also found themselves involved in the Starvis incident, alongside the other galactic factions. Currently, they deal with pirate incursions, and putting down potential insurrections from those that wish to see Ker rise once more.
Organization[]
There are two branches to the Upyri Federation's military forces. The Upyri Federation Navy, and the Upyri Federation Marine Corps. Both get their own fleets, but ultimately the Marine Corps still answers to the Navy.
The chain of command for both is much like that of other military organizations in the galaxy. Especially Sol. The highest position in the Navy is the title of Grand Admiral. This position is widely considered the most powerful position in the military forces of the Upyri. They answer directly to the Council of Planetary Representatives, and the President of the Federation. The highest position in the Marine Corps is General. They answer only to the Grand Admiral, the Council of Planetary Representatives, and the President of the Federation.
An important part of the Federation Navy is the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), which acts as the central intelligence service for the Federation as a whole. Another part is the newly created Anti-Terrorism & Piracy Response Force (ATPRF), which targets terrorist cells and pirate groups that operate inside Federation space.

Light Craft[]
These small ships, usually operated by one or two crewmembers, are often carried aboard the larger fleet vessels and deployed in large amounts to attack targets or defend the fleet or other entities.
The Dardus-class is a multi-role fighter. Fast, reliable, and able to swap configurations quite rapidly, its a staple in Federation fleets. It also features a built-in warp drive so that it doesn't need to ride along in a carrier to warp along with a fleet.
The Cultro-class is an assault fighter, which is a beefed up fighter featuring enhanced weaponry, shielding, and heavy armor. It is used in intense fighting, delivering strikes upon vessels far larger than it alongside bombers.
The Pessulum-class is a scout fighter which doubles as an interceptor in some instances. It features enhanced engines, as well as a long range sensor loadout for scouting out areas of space for enemy fleets or ships.
The Pugione-class is a stealth fighter, equipped for tactical engagements or direct precision strikes using WMDs. It has a built-in cloaking mechanism, allowing it to infiltrate and bring utter chaos to enemy fleets or ground forces.
Fleet Vessels[]
These ships make up the bulk of the Federation's Navy and Marine fleets. These are considered the most notable ones, but there are several others that fill the fleets suited to a variety of tasks.
The Ferrum-class is a patrol vessel often tasked with patroling Federation trade routes and colonies, hunting for hostile forces or terrorist vessels. It carries a small squadron of fighters, and behaves as a gunship as the fighters do most of the work.
The Proeliator-class is a corvette with a sole purpose of hunting and destroying enemy fighters and bombers. Its enhanced engines allow it to zip around orbital battlefields in search of foes, like a shark smelling blood in the water.
The Vindicta-class is an assault frigate, featuring heavy armor, shielding, and heavy weaponry. It originally served as a frigate for the forces of Ker and its allies during the Division War, but has since been upgraded and reproduced. Its purpose is the same as the Cultro-class Assault Fighter: tearing through enemy ships usually far larger than it. It is often deployed to deal with enemy frigates and corvettes as well.
The Sica-class is a missile frigate, meant to provide a barrage of missile fire on enemy fleets and ships. They are often brought in to escort larger vessels, providing missile support against enemy fighters, bombers, and other vessels. They have been known to rip through enemy corvettes, frigates, and even cruisers at times.
The Gladius-class is a hybrid ship, doubling as both a destroyer as well as a light carrier. They are deployed usually four at a time in fleets, allowing for extensive fighter support as well as supporting fire from its prow-mounted MA cannon.
The Javelin-class is a relatively new destroyer, constructed by both the Upyri Federation as well as Elysian Commonwealth. It is basically a railgun platform, meant to act as a replacement for the aging Caliburnus-class Battleship.
The Aratrum-class is a light cruiser, built primarily for speed instead of heavy engagements. It is often used in strike forces, acting as escorts for larger vessels, such as the Precussor-class Super Strike Vessel.
The Precussor-class is a super strike vessel, built with engaging battleships, dreadnoughts, carriers, and their capital ship variants in mind. It delivers a one-two punch in combat, warping in and quickly firing off an ion-cannon shot to scramble enemy shielding and electronics, before delivering a heavy plasma cannon shot that causes the real damage. They are deployed in pairs, with a single Aratrum-class Light Cruiser escorting each.
The Xiphos-class is a cruiser which was formerly the primarily battleship in the Federation fleet. As the Caliburnus-class Battleship was completed and built in large numbers, the Xiphos-class was retired briefly before being adapted to a cruiser role. Some have been converted to use a prow-mounted MA cannon.
The Praereptor-class is a battlecruiser formerly used by the forces of Ker and their allies during the Division War. It has been enhanced over the years, and reproduced to act as a stand-in for smaller fleets that lack the destructive power of a Caliburnus-class Battleship.
The Caliburnus-class is a battleship, and the fists of the Federation fleet. They feature a large prow-mounted railgun, spacious hangars for carrying assault transports and boarding craft, and heavy armor plating scattered about the ship's hull.
The Schiavona-class is a recently built battleship, constructed by both the Upyri Federation as well as the Elysian Commonwealth. It is meant to replace the aging Caliburnus-class Battleship in its role as a battleship, and is paired with a Javelin-class Destroyer at all times.
The Caelum-class is a carrier vessel, outfitted with dozens of squadrons of fighters and bombers. They engage primarily in orbital battles, but can be converted to ground invasion states as well. They are often escorted by a Caliburnus-class Battleship, or other vessels.
Capital Vessels[]
These ships are unique, as they are built far larger than the fleet vessels and usually for a specific purpose. All can serve as command craft during a large scale battle if need be.
The Dominion-class is a capital carrier, and acts as a planetary invasion or command vessel. There are three in existence, placed strategically across the Federation. They are escorted by a variety of ships, including three Caliburnus-class Battleships.
The Spatha-class is a recently completed capital dreadnought, meant for planetary assaults or command vessel roles. The first Spatha-class features a massive prow-mounted partical accelerator cannon, while the second one features a massive hangar to carry a variety of ground forces or fleets of fighters and bombers.
Support Vessels[]
These vessels usually fill non-combat roles in the Federation fleets and abroad, but are often escorted by Federation military vessels.
The Sagitta-class is an exploration and science vessel, meant to explore the vast reaches of space. They feature large science labs, a well as a new advanced rapid warp engine designed to allow for rapid jumps between areas. They are often escorted by Sica-class frigates to assist in dealing with hostile forces.
The Salvator-class is a hospital vessel, bring medical aide to any and all that would need it inside the Federation as well as abroad. They feature no weapons or defenses, so they are escorted usually by a variety of military vessels.
Xitarin[]
UFS Xitarin, a Caelestis-class Titan Battleship
The UFS Xitarin, a Caelestis-class Titan Battleship, is the largest ship in the Federation's fleet, and the only one of its kind. Officially, the titan is only partially complete, a full third of its way through construction. In reality, it is fully operational, and merely running through its last system checks as of 2426. It features thick, heavy armor plating across most of the hull, heavy shielding, as well as numerous defense structures along its hull to defend against enemy vessels and fighters/bombers. For offensive measures, the ship has two prow mounted heavy railguns, as well as a pair of heavy ion cannons and a pair of heavy plasma cannons mounted along its wings.
Specifically built with Titan-on-Titan combat in mind, it stands ready in the event that diplomatic relations with other galactic factions go south.
